Ekaterini "Kathy" Halkopoulos' Obituary
Ekaterini "Kathy" Halkopoulos, age 61, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes. She was born on January 1, 1957 in Korinos, Katerini Greece, daughter of the late Marika and Panagiotis Vasilikos.
Mrs. Halkopoulos emigrated from Korinos Greece to the United States in 1972. She settled in Wilmington, DE where she married her husband, Nikolaos in 1976. In 1987, she and her husband opened Nick's Philadelphia Cheesesteaks in Dewey Beach, DE which is still successfully running today.
Mrs. Halkopoulos loved to travel, spend time with her family and friends, and was active in the Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Halkopoulos was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Vasilikos. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Nikolaos Halkopoulos; her son, Moses Halkopoulos and his wife Kim of Wilmington, DE; one grandchild, Ilias Halkopoulos; one brother, Michael Vasilikos and his wife Liz of Rehoboth Beach, DE; one sister in law, Parashevi Vasilikos of Rehoboth Beach, DE; three nieces: Marika E. Vasilikos, Thalia Vasilikos, and Marika Vasilikos; and her one nephew, Panagiotis Vasilikos.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM.
Friends may also call on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
Burial will follow the services on Friday at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, 187 Henlopen Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Halkapolous' name to Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, sent to the address listed above.
