Eileen Anne LaVardera's Obituary
Eileen A. LaVardera (née Higgins), passed away on November 14, 2023, in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She was born in Manhattan, New York on June 22, 1941, daughter of the late John and Marie (Fetsko) Higgins.
Eileen grew up in Astoria, New York. She attended St. Joseph’s Commercial High School in Brooklyn and received her associate degree in nursing from Queensborough Community College in 1972, and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Adelphi University. Eileen’s nursing career spanned over 30 years. She worked for over two decades as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center, Schneider’s Children’s Hospital, as well as St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, in Bayside, New York. Eileen also worked in the ER and did private duty and home care nursing. Her nursing career took her to Provence, Paris, and Monaco. Eileen’s hobbies were traveling and birdwatching, she enjoyed throwing parties, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Eileen is survived by her two daughters and two sons; two grandsons; one daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law; a sister and brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, Delaware, where family and friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM.
