Edwin Henry Pettit's Obituary
Edwin "Henry" Pettit, age 85, of Milford, DE, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE after a long battle with cancer. Born in Silva, VA on April 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Daniel and Hallie (Jester) Pettit.
Henry worked for years for Selbyville Manufacturing Company, in Rehoboth Beach as a contractor/supervisor. After the company closed, he worked for Lane Builders of Georgetown from which he retired, and then began working part-time at the Georgetown Crisis House. Henry enjoyed spending time on his boat on the waters of Rehoboth Bay or Delaware Bay. He, his wife and family spent a much time fishing, crabbing, clamming and just enjoying the outdoors.
Henry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Jean Pettit; one daughter, Jacqueline J. Mitchell; three grandchildren: Jennifer "Nikki" Dangerfield, Meghan Taylor Mitchell and Haley Lawton Mitchell; two greatgrandchildren: Mitchell Dangerfield and Breanna Dangerfield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter,Cheryl Nance Mitchell and grandson, Cole Lawton Mitchell.
Funeral Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
