Edward A. Quinn's Obituary
Edward A. Quinn, age 84, retired Sergeant Metropolitan Police, DC, resident of Rehoboth Beach for the past nine years, died at home on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.
He was born June 21, 1926 in the Bronx, New York, son of the late John P and Josephine Quinn. He attended Our Lady of Mercy grade school and graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School, Bronx, NY. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, the Asiatic Pacific, and the Philippine Liberation and was stationed on the USS Washington. On May 2, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Skinner in Wethersfield, CT.
Ed is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter Kathy; his daughters and their husbands: Pattie and Dennis Aronson and Marie and Jim Morrison; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Aronson, Boston, MA, Ben Aronson and David Aronson, both of Atlanta, GA, Christopher McNeil of Glenelg, MD, Allison Aronson of Atlanta, Anne Marie McNeil of Glenelg, MD, and Alex McNeil of Glenelg, MD.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Uncle George and three brothers: Maurice, Jack and George; and two nephews, John and Thomas.
Ed was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, DE and a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. He was also a member of the association of Retired Police Officers of DC, and the American Legion Post 28, Oak Orchard, Millsboro, DE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mark Connelly on Monday, October 25, 2010, 11:00 AM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, DE Route 1 North of Five Points, Lewes. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, DE. Friends may call on Sunday, October 24, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.
