Edward A. Ponzini, 85, of Lewes, Delaware, formerly of Glen Head, New York, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 4, 2026.
Edward was born on July 5, 1940, in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York City. He was the son of the late Edward and Mildred Ponzini.
Edward attended the Academy of Aeronautics (now Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology) in Flushing, New York. He dedicated over 35 years of service to Trans World Airlines (TWA) at JFK Airport, where he worked as an airplane mechanic and later as a supervisor in Hangar 12. Throughout his career, he received numerous letters of commendation recognizing his innovative ideas and designs for manufacturing specialized parts for passenger aircraft.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Edward was an accomplished private pilot who enjoyed flying small planes in his free time and working with skytypers.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Adrienne; his daughter, Lisa; his son-in-law, Thomas; and his beloved grandson, Lucas.
Edward was an avid aeronautics hobbyist, with many model airplanes hanging in his garage. He was also a classic Corvette enthusiast and especially enjoyed driving his 1964 Corvette around town. Above all, Edward’s greatest joy was his family and the time he spent with those he loved most.
