Edward Millman's Obituary
Edward Roland Paynter Millman
Mason Contractor
AKA Ed or Eddie
Eddie was born June 4, 1936 and raised on a farm outside of Lewes. The Lord took him home on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE.
He graduated from Lewes High School in 1954. He enjoyed playing basketball and played baseball in a town league and also played on The First Baptist Church team. He loved every part of his Masonry business. He also enjoyed his trucking business and his favorite hobby was working in his garden. At the age of 58 he became an avid golfer; he was a member of the Shawnee Country Club. He loved Misga and especially the ball tossers. Don McLamb, manager of the ball tossers, was a very special friend of Eddie’s. His family, friends and golf buddies visited him regularly.
Eddie owned several timeshare weeks and enjoyed many trips with family and friends. Everywhere he travelled there was a golf course close by. He was a long-time member of The First Baptist Church in Lewes. He did quite a bit of the construction work on the different phases of the church building. He was a trustee, an usher, worked in the sound room and even sang in the choir years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Una C. Millman and Howard E. Millman, Sr. and his loving sister, Olive Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Mincy Millman and their three children: Terri Millman Richards and husband Jim of N. Charleston, SC, Linda Millman Shropshire of Duxbury, MA and Steven E. Millman and wife Nancy of Milton, DE. He was blessed with seven wonderful grandchildren: Emily Hall Munn, Katie Hall Perry and Tyler Hall, Jennifer and Bryan Shropshire and Megan and Matthew Millman. He had one great-grandson, Royce Thomas Ertsey. He is also survived by two brothers: Howard Millman, Jr. of Lewes and William Millman of Dover; and one sister, Leah Millman Elliott of Magnolia.
The family extends their debt of gratitude to all the staff at Country Rest Home for the care Eddie received.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM at The First Baptist Church of Lewes, 1001 Kings Highway, Lewes with Pastor David Munro officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at White’s Chapel Cemetery, Milton, DE. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The First Baptist Church of Lewes, PO Box 25, Lewes, DE 19958.
