Edward Peter Matushik's Obituary
Edward Peter Matushik died peacefully in his sleep at The Moorings at Lewes on April 20, 2018 at the age of 94. Ed was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Peter and Cecelia Matushik on September 28, 1923.
Ed served in the Army as a Technical Sergeant in the 511th Parachute Infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in December of 1945. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his bravery.
Ed attended the University of Scranton and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry. He was a very lucky man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and particularly golf. He shot more than one hole-in-one over the years and played some of the best courses in the country.
Ed married Theresa Barone and had five children. He retired from GE in his 70’s and moved to Rehoboth to live with his son, Mark.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Diane M. Kracher of White Hall, MD; his grandchildren Nicholas Kracher of Conshohocken, PA, Megan Madison and Morgan Matushik, both of DE and Bethany Matushik of FL; and great grandson Dominic Dillon of DE. Ed was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Theresa; children: Adrienne, Mark, David and Paul; and his grandson, David Michael.
Chapel Committal Services with full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
