Edward S. Kuntz's Obituary
Mr. Edward “Ed” S. Kuntz, age 97, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Nokomis, FL, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, January 27, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born June 16, 1914 in New York City, NY, son of the late William and Sadie (Scriven) Kuntz.
Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Bakery Drivers and Salesman Local 194, Brotherhood of Teamsters Union for many years. He was raised in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and loved telling stories of watching the Empire State Building and the Holland Tunnel being constructed. He loved all New York sports teams, especially the Giants and the Mets. He was a tinkerer at heart who worked on automobiles, crafts and woodworking. He loved travelling with his wife in their RV - they visited every State in the Union twice! Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Henlopen Elks, Moose Lodge #2540 and an Honorary Member of the American Legion Post #17.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Lorraine (Then) Kuntz (1947) and by his second wife of 53 years Frances (Miller) Kuntz (2002). He is survived by two daughters: Marianne Furman and her husband William, and Lorraine Cintron and husband Jose, all of Milton, DE; six grandchildren: William Furman, Jr. of Boston, MA, Michael Furman and wife Coleen of Dagsboro, DE, Candee Marie Cintron and husband Nicholas Maxymuik of Philadelphia, PA, Scott Furman and wife Stacie of Lewes, Leigh Ann Zerden of Townsend, DE and Joseph Todd Cintron of Los Angeles, CA; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service with Pastor Fred Duncan officiating will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewes Fire Dept., PO Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Boulevard, Millsboro, DE 19966.
