Edward F. Grady's Obituary
Edward F. Grady, age 76, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 14, 1935 in Exeter, PA, son of the late Edward Thomas and Helen (Wassell) Stevens.
Mr. Grady was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Grady was educated in New Jersey graduating from Nutley High School and Montclair State Teachers College. In August 2000 he and his cherished wife of 52 years retired to Lewes, DE following a 25-year career as an independent jobber in tire sales and 16 years of field sales with Uniroyal Tire Company. Mr. Grady was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church, Rehoboth Beach, DE where he served on the Salt and Light Committee. He also volunteered many hours with Meals On Wheels.
In July 1957 he graduated from Parachute Training, Fort Bragg, NC and served as team Sergeant with the 303rd Special Forces Reserve Unit Airborne. He was a member of the NRA and Chapter XIX Special Forces Association. He was a 29-year member of Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta, NJ serving on various beach and club committees. He also coached and later was game announcer for the Sparta Football Midget League.
Mr. Grady is survived by his loving wife Luanne (Pellnitz) Grady; two daughters: Leeann Grady of Wantage, NJ and Lindalee Davis and husband Ron of Charlotte, NC; a son, Eric Grady and wife Astrid of Glen Cove, Long Island, NY; three grandchildren: Kyle and Kirsten Grady and Makayla Davis; and a sister, Regina Frisoli and husband David of Toms River, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE. Interment will be private. A reception will follow Mass at the family's residence.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to all the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for the wonderfully gentle care they provided to Ed throughout his time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 28467 DuPont Blvd., Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
