Earl Graf Eggers, Jr.'s Obituary
Earl G. Eggers, Jr. left to receive his heavenly reward on January 29, 2026. He was 94, passing after a long convalescence in his home in Lewes DE.
Before and after serving in the US Army in Italy as a MP, Earl worked as a Delaware Bay and River pilot until the mandatory retirement age of 70. He approached his work with unusual courage and enthusiasm; the moniker “Tiger” was affectionately used for him by many of his comrades on the River.
Earl spent his retirement years mainly focused on his Wife Louise and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, sailing, fishing, golfing, racquetball, and relaxing on the Beach in Lewes with friends and family. He will be remembered for his devotion, patience, wry sense of humor, and kindness. To Earl, actions mattered more than words, and his life modeled that belief.
Surviving Earl are his beloved Wife Louise; Children Charlotte (John) Seipp, Graf (Alicia) Eggers, II; Grandchildren Andrew (Anna) Seipp, Earl Graf (Kate) Eggers, III, and Nicole (Matt) Saladino; Great-Grandchildren Julianna, Evelyn, Susannah, Rose and Ezekiel; and many beloved Nephews and a Niece. He was preceded in death by several Sisters and a Grandson, John Charles (“Jay”) Seipp, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00AM. Afterward, attendees are invited to join the family for refreshments and sharing of memories. The location will be announced at the service.
