E. William Howerton's Obituary
E. William Howerton, age 85, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. He was born on July 10, 1923 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, son of the late Elmer William and Dorothy (O'Connor) Howerton.
Mr. Howerton retired from the IBM Corporation in Washington DC in 1982 after 41 years service as a photographer. He was a member of the entertainment group "Melloteers" in the DC area. He was also a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge #2540, American Legion Post #28, Moose Lodge #646 of Lewes, and the VFW Post #7447, Rehoboth Beach, DE. He served his country during WW II as a member of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sons Gary and Craig Howerton and two brothers Edward and Robert Howerton. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Mildred L. Thayer)Howerton; a daughter Janice McNamee and husband Tom of Tucson, AZ; a son Brian Howerton and wife Lorraine of Clifton, VA; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister Margaret Brawley of Mechanicsville, MD.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 7 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Interment with military honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE at 1:00 PM. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 7 Bay Vista Road Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
