As Miss Delaware 1976, Mrs Veazey was my chaperone to the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City. She meant so much to me... she was the sweetest, nicest person. We had so many wonderful talks. I remember how hard she laughed when I explained I couldn't eat chicken because of my pet hen, Ralph. She was so nice, but strong when strength was needed.
Her strength & wise counsel helped me to make history in a very difficult racial climate. Mrs. Veazey, THANK YOU!

I will never forget Alberta for as long as I live. It was refreshing to be in the company of someone who discussed things of value and substance rather than people and their personal affairs. Alberta was loving and positive most of the time that I spent with her. I really appreciated quality time & visits with her. She so enjoyed her family and friends coming to visit her at Bransywine. I am very grateful to their staff. They were very kind to Alberta. Everyone who knew her knows of her impeccable taste in clothing, gifts, and interior design. I loved the arts and crafts she showed me that she had created while a resident at Brandywine.
I'm going to miss her ♥️ My mother, Carolyn and I send our deepsest condolences to all of her sons, grandchildren, extended family and friends. We are sorry for your loss. We feel the loss too.

Alberta was one of the first people I met when I came to Rehoboth in 1973. I had the pleasure of getting to know and love her while working at the Dinner Bell Inn. Her grace and style were exemplary. Her passing marks the end of an era. All of the lovely ladies and gentlemen who influenced so many of our lives while working at the DBI are now in Heaven. What a glorious reunion they must be having.

Alberta was always dressed to the nines, had fine taste for fashion and decoration for her home and gardens. She was always prepared to make a good impression and really made an impression on us all. She was generous to me and shared help, advice, and support when I was entering college. My sincerest sympathy to her family and especially to Don and Gina. Anyone who knew Alberta saw that she took pride in herself, her home and family. Her home could have been featured in Better Homes and Garden magazine. She loved dressing our daughters in frilly dresses, taking them on adventures to the beach, the inlet, fishing with grandpa Sam, etc . She also gave them a few surprise haircuts!! She loved holidays. We always had family dinners and attended candlelight service Christmas Eve. Several years ago she came to my home for Thanksgiving. She told me it was the highlight of her holiday.
