Drew E. Imperial's Obituary
Drew Edward Imperial, age 52, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, joined God on Sunday, September18, 2022.He was born on September 26, 1969, son of Albert and Deborah (Backer) Imperial.
Drew was a child of the tides; like the ocean, he was always on the go and everchanging. Raised in Rehoboth Beach, his true passion was his pets, all animals really, surfing, fishing, and anything that kept him on the water. He was adventurous and free spirited and sailed through life where the wind took him. He spent time living on the coasts of Florida, North Carolina, and California, yet he always returned home to Rehoboth Beach, because that is where his family was.
At the end of the day, he valued family above everything else. If you knew Drew, you knew that he was a selfless person. He would go without to provide extras for those he cared for. His heart was filled with joy knowing he helped someone or made their day. Sometimes it was something as simple as sending a song that brightened your day just when you needed it, or to let you know he was thinking of you. On a larger scale, Drew may have landscaped your yard because he knew you liked flowers, and the smile when you saw the surprise was all he needed. He wanted to live his life just like the lyrics in the song Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Drew sang it, amongst a ton of other songs, often. He frequently said his grandmother, the late Doris Backer, messaged the same words and wisdom to him and they were words to live by.
In addition to his parents, Drew is survived by his younger brother, Nick Imperial; his daughter, Caitlyn Hudson; his grandchildren, Sophia, and Kylie; his nieces and nephews; and an infinite number of cousins, and his dog Lucky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may call beginning at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, 187 Henlopen Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Drew's memory to Delaware Humane Society, www.delawarehumane.org/donate/gif.
