Douglas Cameron "Doug" King Jr.
Douglas Cameron "Doug" King Jr., 83, of Selbyville, Delaware, formerly of Olney and Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, while in hospice care.
Doug was born on May 11, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to the late Douglas C. King Sr. and Donna Belle King. He was raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, and graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1961 before continuing his education at Montgomery College.
Doug proudly served his country in the Air Force Reserves. He went on to build a successful career with the American Postal Workers Union Health Plan, where he worked as a supervisor before retiring.
On October 26, 1991, Doug married the love of his life, Cathleen (Kraus) King, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bethesda, Maryland. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and cherished memories.
Doug was an active member of the Olney Lions Club, where he was honored with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in recognition of his dedication to serving others. He found great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, tending to his garden, collecting antique tools, and enjoying every opportunity to golf and fish.
Above all else, Doug treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathleen King of Selbyville, Delaware; his son, Stephen King and wife Tamra of Bishopville, Maryland; his daughter, Kelsey King of Charlotte, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Madelynn DiGristine (Vinny) of Pittsville, Maryland, Katelynn King of Bishopville, Maryland, Brice King of Bishopville, Maryland, and Cameron King of Bishopville, Maryland.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his sister, Deanna King.
Doug will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, generous spirit, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His quiet strength, sense of humor, and unwavering love for those closest to him will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service information will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
