Dorothy, I cannot overstate the positive impact that your research and writings have had on my life. As so many others have observed, you helped me make sense, for the first time, of the extremely powerful emotions that have blasted me throughout my life. to Dorothy Tennov, I just wanted to say i think your the only person that can understand me after reading 'love and limerence' ive been suffering cycles of it my whole life. unfortunately i found out about it this year and when i try to keep in contact i found out you have passed 2007. im hurting really bad from this, I wish i can just talk to you for an hour and share our experiences. it was 2008 when i first went away from home for 2months to clear my mind from limerance. I wish I could have known you before then. love you. rest in peace.
In 2004 I was greeted by a fellow alumni about an amazing new word/theory he'd read about called Limerence. After having a three day conversation about the meaning and then ordering the book I'd already decided to get Limerent tattooed on my arm. I read the book after reading the wikapedia version and already getting the tattoo. I've never regretted getting Limerent tattooed on my arm and I'll never forget Dorothy for her work and wisdom that has helped me. I never knew her, met her, saw her, or tried to contact her. I wish I would have at least sent her a photo of the word permanently marked on my shoulder.
