Dorothy Ann Slacum's Obituary
Dorothy Ann (Lee) Slacum, 81 ,of Bridgeville, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 29, 2007 at a private care residence, Greenwood, DE. She was born in Vienna, MD on February 13, 1926, daughter of the late George D. Lee and Grace Murphy Lee. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, Harry W. Johnson in 1965 and George L. Slacum Sr. in 2003.
She had previously worked for the former Excelsior Pearl Works in Federalsburg, MD and was a baby sitter for a number of years. She retired in 1989 from the Woodbridge School District as a cafeteria worker. She loved to play cards and cook. One of her favorite dishes was lima bean soup with dumplins for the Slacum reunions.
Survivors include a daughter June Shockley and her husband John of Bridgeville, DE; a son Gary Johnson and companion his Lee Reed of Seaford, DE; two step-sons, George L. Slacum Jr. and his wife Judy of Georgetown, DE and Robert L. Slacum and his wife Linda of Seaford; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; a brother Paul Lee and his wife Marie of Vienna, MD; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Diane Melson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bridgeville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, P.O. Box 727, Bridgeville, DE 19933.
