Dorothy R. Fipp's Obituary
Dorothy Reynolds Fipp, age 94 of Pinewater Farm, Delaware passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. She was born on December 2, 1920 in Vallejo, CA, daughter of the late Hanna (Jeffers) Thurber, Albert Thurber and stepfather Fred Reynolds.
Dorothy was married in San Francisco, CA to the love of her life August B. Fipp, Jr. for a beautiful 60 years. Together they worked for the FBI at the San Francisco headquarters. After being transferred to the Washington, DC area, she became a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, where she also worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Lyndon B. Johnson. Dorothy continued her art career while being a devoted mother and raising her family in Silver Spring, MD.
Dorothy would later retire to the Rehoboth Beach, DE area where she was one of the original Cape Artists, originally known as the “Ladies of Lewes.” She was a member of the Rehoboth Art League where she continued to display her paintings.
Dorothy will be remembered as being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, August B. Fipp, Jr. She is survived by her son, Warren (Skip) Fipp and his wife Janice DeCicco Fipp; her daughter, Susan Fipp Adams and her husband Mark T. Adams; and five grandchildren: Christopher and Jennifer Fipp and Kevin, Bryan and Shannon Adams.
Services are private.
