Dorothy "Dottie" E. Plosay's Obituary
Dorothy "Dottie" E. Plosay, age 76, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was born December 21, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Pearl (Richards) Hocking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband John J. Plosay, Jr. in 1979, and her loving animal companions, Heidi and Sammie.
Dottie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, known as "Dottie Dimples" when she was much younger. She married John J. Plosay Jr. on December 21, 1955 and spent the next 25 years travelling the world as a military wife. Dottie moved to Rehoboth Beach in 1999 to fulfill a life-long dream of living near the beach.
She loved sewing, cooking and baking for her family. She also loved animals and always had several at home. When her husband retired, she raised goats for a short while. After her husband passed away, Dottie had a great adventure in Gettysburg, PA -- opening one of the first video stores.
She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Joy Brooks and her husband Ronald of Wilmington, DE; two sons: John J. Plosay, III, M.D. of Pasadena, CA and James Richard Plosay and his wife Melissa of Juneau, AK; a brother, Thomas Hocking and his wife Janice of Vancouver, BC; four grandchildren, Alan James and Kristen Alaine Plosay of AK and Alison Melissa and Rebecca Kate Plosay of Norfolk, VA. and Zachariah Riste - Plosay.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010, at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
