Dorothy "Dotty" Louise Davis Lewis' Obituary
On Saturday March 21, 2020, Dorothy Louise Davis Lewis, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side. Dorothy was born on July 9, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Harry Charles Davis and Eleanor Gertrude Conway Davis.
Dorothy grew up in Bridgeville, DE and married Victor E. Lewis on the 15th of August, 1947. They had two children, Beth Lewis Passwaters and Molly Lewis McIntosh. Dorothy, affectionately known as Dotty, loved working with children and teaching. When she and Vic retired, they enjoyed golfing and traveling with their friends.
Not long after Victor passed away in 2005, Dotty moved to Wilmington, NC and enjoyed living near her daughter Beth and Beth's husband, Earl, who always took a special interest in making sure Dotty was happy and cared for. Dotty played some golf and loved gardening and walking. She loved spending time with her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who all enjoyed her wonderful and well-known cooking skills, along with her advice, guidance, and humor.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dotty is preceded in death by her two sisters: Joan Davis Huxford and Nance Davis Betze and her son in law, Earl Passwaters. She is survived by two daughters, Beth Lewis Passwaters and Molly Lewis McIntosh; four grandchildren: Brian (Amber) Passwaters, Amanda (Scott) Forbes, Chamon McIntosh, and Christian McIntosh; five great grandchildren: Hannah Forbes, Ally Forbes, Cassie Passwaters, Lizzy Passwaters, and Sami Passwaters; her brother, Harry (Brud) and his wife Wanda Davis and their three children, Kelly, Matt, and Jenny Davis; three nieces, Stephanie Betze Williams, Claire Betze, and Elizabeth Burnett; two nephews, Richard Betze and Rex Huxford; along with extended family, and many great friend in both Delaware and North Carolina. She was dearly loved and held them all special. Dotty was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, DE and attended Harbor United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Bridgeville Cemetery, Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE.
