Dorothea Irene Welk's Obituary
Dorathea Irene Welk, age 89, Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at home. She was born Saturday, June 06, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Paul C. and Dorathea K. (Schaefer) Welk.
In 1989 Mrs. Welk retired as a Social Worker in Baltimore, MD and made Rehoboth Beach, DE her home. She enjoyed traveling and had many opportunities to explore new places and people. An animal lover at heart, she even befriended the wild raccoons and skunks in her neighborhood.
Mrs. Welk was a member of the American Legion Post #17 in Lewes and American Legion Post #5 in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She enjoyed her social time, good food and laughter with friends old and new at the Legion.
Mrs. Welk is survived by her brother, Kenneth R. Welk, Sr. and his wife Carol of Glen Burnie, MD and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and to all whose heart she touched over many years.
All services will be private.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the care given to Dottie by all the Staff at Compassionate Care Hospice.
