Doris A. Whitehouse's Obituary
Doris A. (Sengbusch) Whitehouse, age 86, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Cadbury At Lewes in Lewes, DE. She was born August 16, 1923 in Michigan City, IN, daughter of the late William J. and O'Tilla (Marschke) Sengbusch.
Mrs. Whitehouse grew up in Indiana and raised her family in Caldwell, NJ along with her husband C. Burton Whitehouse who passed away in 1991. While living in New Jersey, she was very active with the West Essex High School band. She enjoy sewing and she loved to garden. After moving to Delaware, she sang with the Southern Delaware Choral Society and she was a member of the Seashore Chapter of the American Needle Work Guild. She was also a Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang with the choir.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son John "Jack" Whitehouse. She is survived by her daughter Marsha L. Shull of Frankford, DE; three sons: William Whitehouse of Baltimore, MD, Robert B. Whitehouse of Vass, NC and David A. Whitehouse of Grand Junction, CO; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2009, 11:00 AM, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 King Charles Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE with the Rev. Dr. Frank S. Deming, Jr. officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening, September 24, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Graveside services will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, NJ on Monday, September 28 at 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church at the address noted above or to the Memory Garden At Cadbury, Cadbury At Lewes, 17028 Cadbury Circle, Lewes, DE 19958.
