Doris A. Lewis' Obituary
Doris A. Lewis of Henlopen Acres, DE and Darien, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at, Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. She was born in Wilmington, DE, on Tuesday, November 10, 1925 daughter of the late Morris and Mary (Davis) Albom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas B. "Reds" Lewis, who passed away on January 4, 2010. (He was the former mayor of Henlopen Acres.)
Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Goldey Beacom School of Business. She was past president of Phi Beta Kappa Sorority and served on numerous boards and committee's in Rehoboth Beach and Sussex County.
Her greatest enjoyment was playing bridge with her friends. She will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren and all that knew her.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by one daughter, Valerie Oken (Keith) of Ponte Verda Beach, FL; one son, Thomas Lewis (Muffy) of New Canaan, CT, and seven grandchildren: Zac Cover of West Palm Beach, FL, Brandon Cover (Davidson) of Ponte Verda Beach, FL, Whitney, Sam and Elizabeth Lewis all of New Canaan, CT and Hayes and Riley Oken of Ponte Verda Beach, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, 406 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE, 19801.
