Doris A. Hamrick's Obituary
Doris A. Hamrick, age 84, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Christiana Care Health Systems, in Newark, DE. She was born on February 25, 1934 in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Frank and Doris (McCabe) Bowen.
Mrs. Hamrick attended the University of Maryland and Sullins College in Bristol, VA. She relocated to and resided in Tennessee until 1971 before she moved to Greensboro, NC and then to College Park, MD. She worked for Citizens Bank of MD (now SunTrust) for 21 years and then moved to Rehoboth Beach, DE. Mrs. Hamrick was active in the Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle, Wednesday bible study and was a greeter scheduler.
Mrs. Hamrick loved to travel. She enjoyed the taste of sweet Maryland crabs and oysters and was an avid bridge player. She will be remembered as a social butterfly by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamrick was preceded in death by her son, Jay Bowen Hamrick and her grandson, Bo Hamrick. She is survived by her son, John and his wife Diane; her daughters, Paula and her husband Randall, and Julie and her husband Paul; her five grandchildren: Megan, Matt, Brian, Adam and Natalie; her four great grandchildren: Quinn, Payton, Fallyn and Amelia; and her brother, Paul Bowen.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hamrick's name to the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Avenue, Lewes, DE 19958
