So sorry for Don's family and close friends. Fortunately I had the occasion to meet and get to know him in the years when he was at the Harbor View Hotel, long before it was overhauled and still and the old time charm & feeling about the place. Don would often hire the 4 piece band I was in and we all got along famously, sharing lots of laughs while taking care of business. I recall his wry sense of humor and kind charm. He was a wonderful guy and I'am saddened by his passing, and sorry for his illness. My condolences to his family and I can only hope he did not suffer greatly, though his passing is way too soon. I'am honored to have met Don and shared a bit of Island time with him. I wish I could pass him on the street one more time and say hello, see the turn of his head with that twinkle in his eye, share a laugh, shake hands and say its good to see you Don.

I knew Don Turnell, only as the beloved husband of my dear friend Donna Jeanne Shutz. We met at the Alpena Community Theater in Michigan, about1969.
Donna has played a pivotal role in my life; as a friend, spiritual influence and musical genious.
I am heartbroken for Donna, knowing how deeply she loved Don. I know that her faith will help her with her grief.
Donna, how wonderful it was to know you had found the love of your life.
I'm so sorry that I never had a chance to meet Don, but I rest assured that you and Don will be forever one, togther with God.
Continue to Play and Sing your beautiful music for Don until you are reunited in heaven.
