Donald H. Tipton's Obituary
Donald Howard Tipton, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a very brief, courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday June 28, 2017.
Born in Washington D.C. on January 22, 1939, Don was the son of the late Oliver Tipton and Harriet (Harrell) Tipton. He raised a loving family, around whom he centered his life. Don recently retired after many years as a public works employee and small-business entrepreneur. He leaves behind many friends and co-workers.
As avid golfer and Redskins fan, Don knew that the things that frustrate us most in life often bring us the most pleasure. Don used this wisdom, as well as the other insights he gained throughout his life, to become the amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather he was. Don was a great man whom all lovingly called Pop Pop Tip.
Don leaves behind his children, Traci Williams and her husband Tom of Millsboro, Thomas Tipton and his wife Kristin of Ocean View, Terri Tipton of Lewes, Michael Tipton and his husband Eric of Rehoboth, and Peggy Cronic and her husband Terry; his ex-wife Kathleen Tipton; his four brothers and their loving families, Gary Tipton, Dennis Tipton, Thomas Tipton and John Tipton; his ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Don may be remembered with contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 5th at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE where friends may visit beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be at 1:00PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro DE.
On to greener fairways Pop Pop Tip. We love you.
