Donald E. Roth's Obituary
Donald "Don" E. Roth, age 79 of Millsboro, DE passed away on July 22, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE surrounded by his family. Mr. Roth was born on June 15, 1931 in Lebanon, PA, son of late Cletus C. and Ida (Smith) Roth.
Mr. Roth moved to the Bay City Community, Long Neck, DE full time in 2002, from his long time home in Morgantown, PA. In 1949, at age 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for whom he served a 20 year career specializing in radar operations in the Korean War and Viet Nam. Mr. Roth worked at Morgan Trailer Corporation, Morgantown, PA, Delta Trucking Company, Shoemakersville, PA, and Sterling M/G Propane Company, Reading, PA until retirement in 1991. Mr. Roth was a member of the Navy Club of the USA and the American Legion Post 28; he loved boating, bay fishing, and watching Country Western Movies. He coached and organized many youth sports, and was instrumental in the organization of the Youth Soccer Club at Twin Valley School District, Elverson, PA. Mr. Roth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Mr. Roth is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marian E. (Lineaweaver) Roth; son: James R. Roth and wife Jodi of Bowmansville, PA; two daughters: Vicki M. McGinn and husband Martin S. of Elverson, PA, and Donna G. Yoder and husband Ronald of Cambridge, PA; seven grandchildren: Amy, Zachary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary Kate, Alyssa, and Nicholas; one great-grandchild: Liam; one brother; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE with the Rev. Donald E. Mummert officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, July 30, 1:00 PM. at Caernarvon Cemetery, Morgantown, PA.
