Donald A. Myers' Obituary
Donald A. Myers, age 86, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE. He was born in Washington, D.C., on July 28, 1929, son of the late John and Helen (Mosley) Myers.
Following an extensive period of time in the private sector, Mr. Myers enjoyed a career with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, retiring as a Division Director. He married the love of his life, Betty, on January 31, 1953 in Alexandria, VA.
During his leisure, Mr. Myers loved fishing on the Chincoteague waters, golfing with friends or working on puzzles. He participated in many organizations including Shriners International, Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Almas Yacht Club in Washington D.C. and International Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs. He also volunteered much of his time at the Shriners Hospitals for Children as a driver.
Mr. Myers will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and David Myers and a sister, Barbara Raley. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty (Hatton) Myers of Bridgeville, DE; a son, John J. Myers and his wife Cecilia of Stevensville, MD; a daughter, Janice M. Grill and her husband John R. of Dayton, OH; a granddaughter, Kimberly Grill of Glen Burnie, MD; a grandson, John W. Grill of Dayton, OH; a sister, Frances Martin of Kensington, MD; and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 2 North Williams Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933, where friends may visit beginning at Noon. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Myers' memory to the Shrines Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 (shfc.convio.net).
