Donald L. Kemper, age 75, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. He was born September 22, 1932 in New Oxford, PA, son of the late Wilmer F. and Elizabeth (Watson) Kemper.
Mr. Kemper spent most of his life in the York, PA area. He enjoyed a 39 year career with the Pennsylvania Railroad, later known as Conrail. Over the years, he worked as a freight conductor, a brakeman and a yardmaster. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He always enjoyed his time with family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. He served his country during the Korean conflict, spending 30 of his 39 months of service in Germany. Mr. Kemper and his wife of 54 years relocated to Delaware in 1992.
In addition to his wife, Eileen M. (Lentz) Kemper, he is survived by two sons, Steven B. Kemper of York, PA and Daren D. M. Kemper of New Freedom, PA; two daughters, Cynthia L. Holtzapple and Christine L. Schaefer, both of York, PA; three grandsons, Justin, Bradley and Derick; a granddaughter, Kirsten; two step-granddaughters, Courtney and Angela; one great-granddaughter; and three step-great-grandsons; three sisters, Anna Prescott of Zellwood, FL, Laura Rowe of Fallbrook, CA and Joan Dill of Spokane, WA; and one brother, Herbert Kemper of York, PA
Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Inc., Clarksville, DE.
