Donald E. Irons' Obituary
Donald Edward Irons, age 73, of Seaford, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 after a short battle with cancer at his residence. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on Wednesday, June 17, 1942, son of the late Edward and Mary Irons.
Don enjoyed a longtime career as a Philadelphia (PA) Police Officer, retiring in 1995. Don loved saltwater fishing, especially when he would go out with one of the local headboats. He enjoyed the comradery and competition amongst the anglers on board. Don was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers fan who supported his teams whether they were on a winning streak or losing.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mary E. (Whelan) Irons of Seaford, DE; two sons, Donald Irons, Jr. and his wife Ann of Delran NJ; their 3 children whom he loved and adored, Steven, Donnie and Rachel; his youngest son Steven "Ben" Irons whom he loved and his wife and children, of Stafford PA, a sister, Darlene Irons of Philadelphia; and her son John also of Philadelphia whom Don thought of and loved as his third son and his beloved canine companions, Buddy, a German Shepherd Dog and Bruno "BooBoo" a Rottweiler.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Memorial Service which will be announced at a later date for family and friends.
