Don was a uniquely wonderful friend to me. I cherished his warmth, his wisdom, his welcomes, his sense of humor, his generosity, his quiet, comforting presence. It was my privilege to share time with him on many occasions through the years, especially in his home at 5 Inlet, where he was famous for listening attentively, then chiming in to a conversation with just a few words that hit the nail on the head.
I understood that Don weathered significant hardships during his life. He did so quietly, in understated manner, without complaint. He was a gentle soul, for whom I had enormous respect. Already, I miss him dearly.
My heart goes out to Shirley. Any who wish to witness a model of loyal, loving, real, rock solid partnership need look no further than the one shared by Donald and Shirley Griesbaum. It’s hard to picture her, without him.
My sincere condolences to all of Don’s family, and my sincere appreciation for sharing him with me.
