Donald G. Carodiskey's Obituary
Donald George Carodiskey, age 73, of Lewes, DE, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. He was born September 6, 1935 in Danville, PA, son of the late George and Thelma (Putnam) Carodiskey.
Donald attended the Valley Forge Military Academy on a music scholarship graduating in 1955. In July of that year he was accepted as a Clarinetist in the "President's Own" U.S. Marine Corps Band in Washington, DC where he served for 30 years retiring in 1985. While serving in the Band, he taught clarinet and saxophone to many young students. He was a competitive tennis player and later on an avid golfer. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 4 year old son, George (1964). He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Geraldine "Dolly" Carodiskey; daughter Susan Carodiskey and husband David Braziel; son Steven Joseph Carodiskey; daughter Diane Michele Carodiskey; grandson Jonathan Price; and two great-grandchildren.
A Committal Service will be held Thursday, July 9, 11:00 AM, in the chapel at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Interment will follow. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
