Donald James Cahill's Obituary

Donald James Cahill, age 92 of Lewes, DE and formerly of NJ, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Bayhealth Medical Center, in Milford, DE. He was born on November 16, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Connor and Helen (Brett) Cahill.
Mr. Cahill was a proud veteran , having honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his service to country, he built a lifelong career as contract specialist, spending time at the Frankford Arsenal, near Philadelphia, a US Army ammunition plant, at Fort Dix, NJ, a US military processing station, and at Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, also in NJ. He took an early retirement to care for his parents in their later years.
A devout Catholic, Mr. Cahill was a faithful member of St. Jude the Apostle Church, in Lewes. He was fiercely proud of his Irish heritage, was a member of the Notre Dame Club, and lived and breathed all things pertaining to the Emerald Isle.
Above all, Mr. Cahill cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted brother, cousin, and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Mr. Cahill is survived by his dear sister, Sr. Helen M. Cahill, R.S.M., of Lewes; his many cousins; and his dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 21 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE. Burial with military honors will take place at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
