Dolores Makepeace Rooney's Obituary
Dolores Makepeace Rooney, age 92, of Shepherdstown, WV passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford, DE. She was born Saturday, June 10, 1922 in Patterson, NJ, to Edwin H Makepeace and Irene (Johns) Makepeace.
Dolores’ love of her family was the center of her life. She was very warm, compassionate and extremely fun-loving. For those who were touched by her caring and understanding ways, she will live on forever.
A devout Catholic, Dolores was actively involved in her parishes which include St. Michael’s, Silver Spring, MD; Mother Seton, Germantown, MD and St. Agnes, Shepherdstown, WV. She had a special bond with the Blessed Mother and was a 60 year member of the Sodality of Our Lady.
Mrs. Rooney is survived by her four children, Patrick Charles Rooney of Corsica, PA; John Edwin Rooney (Robin) of Windermere, FL; Jane Frances Rooney (Jo) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; Susan Jane Jefferson of Germantown, MD; five grandchildren, Brian S. Jefferson of Brunswick, MD;, Stacy J. Ellyson of Matthews, NC; Jodi J. Lucia of Mt. Airy, MD; John J. Rooney of Charlotte, NC; Kristina M. Rooney of Windermere, FL and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Mother Seton Catholic Church, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown, MD where friends may visit beginning at 10 AM.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 AM.
Interment will be private.
