Dolores Josephine Melchiorre's Obituary
Dolores Josephine Melchiorre, age 87 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Accent Care Hospice in Christiana Care Health Systems in Wilmington, DE. She was born on March 18, 1936, in Chester, PA, daughter of the late Alexander and Mary DeMaio.
Mrs. Melchiorre made a career as a teller at PNC Bank in Chester, from which she retired after several dedicated years. Following retirement, she and her husband made the permanent move to Rehoboth Beach, where she enjoyed working in reception at the Econolodge on Coastal Highway. Mrs. Melchiorre loved to entertain and was the consummate hostess, and everyone around knew her home was the “party house”. She belonged to a camping club and enjoyed camping with her family and traveling to new and favorite destinations. Mrs. Melchiorre cherished these times spent with those she loved most. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melchiorre was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Melchiorre, Jr; her sons: James Melchiorre and Nicholas Melchiorre; and her brothers: Thomas DeMaio and Frank DeMaio. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at St. Edmond Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at 1:00 PM at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
