Dino C. Vidos' Obituary
Dino C. Vidos, loving husband and father, passed peacefully while surrounded by his family at home on August 29, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Washington, D.C., Dino was the child of successful Greek immigrants. Growing up in the District he became very interested in history becoming a lifelong subject matter expert in the Civil War. He joined the US Navy, serving at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Virginia and remained a proud veteran throughout his life.
Dino worked as a family restauranteur and developed a deep affinity for fine wines. After receiving a certification from Le Comite Nationale Des Vins de France, he became a successful entrepreneur, and in 1971 opened a retail wine and gourmet store in Bethesda, Maryland until his retirement in 1997. He and his second wife, Myrna retired to Lewes, DE in 1998 and quickly became integral in the community, volunteering their time for various causes, to include the New Life Thrift Store in Lewes, DE.
His passion for the community became manifest when he and his wife became instrumental in the building and growth of Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, the first Orthodox Church in Sussex county. His dedication and commitment to St. Andrew's was constant.
He is survived by his second wife Myrna, his children Kathryn Adams, Victoria, Constance and Michael Vidos, two grandchildren Brian and Christopher Adams and a sister Maryanna Doukas. His first wife, Diane, succumbed to cancer in 1978.
