Dennis C. Spidle's Obituary
Dennis C. Spidle, age 62, of Lewes, DE became a fully healed spirit on Monday October 17, 2016. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on April 20, 1954, son of the late Clark and Betty Spidle.
After a courageous battle of 48 years with Type 1 Diabetes, he passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully. Dennis was loved and admired for his positive attitude throughout all his health challenges. He was a free-spirited man that projected sunshine to all he met. Dennis was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, and hanging out on his deck visiting with friends. His passion was his music - either a tune coming from his BOSE system, or shouting out his own lyrics. His impact on so many lives is his legacy. His smile will live on forever in our hearts.
Dennis attended Harrisburg Barber School and practiced his first career as a barber/stylist for 15 years. His next 20 years, he dedicated his skills representing BAC Local 5 Harrisburg as a Field Rep and Vice Chairmen on the IU Executive Board. While in these positions, he formed lifelong bonds with so many individuals that he admired and respected.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother John Spidle. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Atkinson Spidle - whom he always referred to as his “angel”. He is survived by his siblings: Clark (Gloria), Robert (Dolores), Michael (Doris), Wanda Able, and Linda Peck. He also had so many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that he cherished with all his heart. Dennis always said he was put on the earth to be a good uncle. That he was, indeed. He’s watching over with a smile for his furry friends Buster, Zoey, and Buddy.
A Celebration of Dennis’s life will be held on April 29, 2017 at Hagy Park in Dauphin, PA. Dennis loved his hometown, family and many friends and would be so humbled knowing his wife honored his wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dennis' memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 26 Broadway, 14th Floor
