Dennis Michael Pierce's Obituary
Dennis Michael Pierce, age 64, of Dagsboro, DE. passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. following a long fight against cancer.
Dennis was born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late John and Emily Pierce. Dennis is survived by his best friend and wife of 28 years, Donna; two stepsons, Wesley Ball of Brunswick, MD and Kevin Ball of Urbana, MD; brothers John Pierce of Long Beach, CA and Fred Pierce of Farmington Hills, MI.
Dennis graduated from Cleveland St. Joseph’s High School and received a BBA from Ohio University in 1970 and an MBA from the University of Texas, Austin in 1972. After school, he enjoyed a long and successful career in sales and marketing for Control Data and General Dynamics Corporations. Before his retirement in 2007, he held the position for 22 years as the General Dynamics Representative to the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
His main passion besides his family was golf. He grew up at Manakiki Golf Course in Willoughby Hills, OH starting as a caddie and working his way up to assistant professional. He played high school and college golf and continued to play as a member of Lakewood CC in Rockville, MD, Montgomery CC in Laytonsville, MD, and Cripple Creek Country Club in Dagsboro, DE until his death. His boyhood dream of living on a golf course was realized when he and Donna built on the 9th hole at Cripple Creek.
