Dennis "Denny" P. Dodd's Obituary
Dennis P. "Denny" Dodd, age 66, of Lewes, DE passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Mannington, WV on July 8, 1947, son of Wilda Rush Dodd of Mannington, WV and the late Spencer Paul Dodd.
Denny proudly and honorably served his country with the US Navy, prior to embarking on a 30 year career with Minerals Technologies, Inc. in Easton, PA, where he was a Furnace Operator. He retired in 2005, relocating to the Lewes area, where he would enjoy time spent on his boat fishing and crabbing. Denny loved to hunt in the Poconos and occasionally in West Virginia. He was the "grill master" for many of the summer picnics in his community. Denny enjoyed being part of the Courtesy Patrol for his community for several years and the opportunities it brought for him to meet neighbors and help those in need. He looked forward to his weekly "card night" on Tuesday's with the guys, never for big pots, mostly for the camaraderie!
Denny participated in Relay for Life, a community based fundraiser walk, for cancer survivors and those who have been impacted by cancer. Denny and his loving companion, Linda C. Kuhn, participated in memory of Linda's grandson, Paul Detweiler. Denny touched the lives of many and his footprints will be left on the hearts of many.
He will be remembered as a loving companion, father, grandfather, son and friend to many.
Denny is survived by his son, Joshua P. Dodd and wife Jennifer of Coopersburg, PA; granddaughter, Abigail and grandchild to be born in May; his loving companion of 18 years, Linda C. Kuhn of Lewes, DE and her children: Kenneth Hunsicker and wife Marlene of Troy, PA, their children: Marta, Emily and Sara and Julie Detweiler and husband David of Sellersville, PA and their daughter, Erin. Denny was preceded in death by Linda's grandson Paul Detweiler in June 2013.
Services were held privately. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
Memorial donations in Denny's memory and in commemoration of Linda's grandson, Paul Detweiler, may be made to the Gettysburg College Campus, Attn: Bob Kallin, Development Alumni & Parent Relations, Box 423, 300 N. Washington Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
