Delbert "Del" Wayne Palmer's Obituary
Delbert Wayne “Del” Palmer, age 78, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Excel Care in Lewes, Delaware.
Born on September 25, 1946, Del was the son of the late Murray Palmer and Reatha (Oliver) Price. He graduated from McGehee High School in 1964 and went on to earn both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Education from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, completing his master’s degree in 1972.
Del retired in 2019 after a long career in customer service with a company specializing in security storage and moving services in Washington, D.C. He was known for his dedication, warmth, and professionalism—qualities that made a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers alike.
A man of many passions, Del had a lifelong love of the theater and the arts. He was a devoted fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks football team and found great joy in cultivating flowers—especially orchids. His beautiful blooms were admired by many, often shared and celebrated on social media.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Del is survived by his sisters, Gloria (Price) McClendon (Butch) of Kernersville, NC, and Nina Stout of Star City, AR; niece, Laura Hanson of Roanoke, VA; great-nieces, Bailey Price Hanson and Maci Lowe Hanson of Roanoke, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard "Dick" Price; and siblings, J.D. Price, Billy Price, Joedd Price, Peggy Markham, and Judy Beason.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, Arkansas, where Del will be laid to rest among family and friends.
In honor of Del’s love for children and animals, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude, or to your local animal rescue organization.
