Ray was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He had a really cool sense of humor. Our whole family thought so much of him and his wonderful family. When Christine did daycare, all the kids were so excited when Ray got home from work. He will be so greatly missed!
Ray introduced me to the artistic productions of Yngwie Malmsteen. While that's not the most important interaction we had over the past 20 years, it is perhaps the most telling one. I discovered through that interaction that Ray was much more than the quiet man who smiled mildly and sang mellow tenor notes in the choir. He was wonderfully complex and--as I also discovered along the way--highly capable. In the end, he was more than anything else the patriarch of a truly wonderful family, which obviously speaks louder than any story or memory ever could.
I still remember how happy Phoebe was to tell us all about her day with Uncle Ray and all the things they did together. Our whole family's lives are so much the better because of who he was.
