David Eric Waelde's Obituary
David Eric Waelde, a talented and respected engineer, passed away on September 19, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. David passed away in the warmth of his home in Rehoboth Beach, DE, surrounded by the love and care of his devoted wife and dear friends. Born in York, PA on June 20, 1940, David's early foundations led him to a life characterized by intellectual curiosity, loving relationships, and a dedicated career.
David's academic pursuits culminated in a Master's Degree in Engineering from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, a testament to his passion for knowledge and his enduring contribution to the field. He served as a senior staff member with Federal Research Services in Washington, DC, where his work in international development and long-range data processing left an indelible mark. David also shared his extensive experience through his authoritative guide, "How to Get a Federal Job and Advance," benefitting countless aspiring federal employees.
Throughout his life, David maintained a range of interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. An avid golfer, he found solace and excitement on the greens, a pastime he cherished until his later years. His penchant for staying informed was evident in his dedication to keeping up to date with the evening news. David's love for reading carried over into his retirement, enjoying books and perusing the newspaper regularly.
David leaves behind a legacy of love and achievement. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Waelde of Rehoboth Beach; daughters, Chanda Radabaugh and Mellisa Keller, both of York, PA; his grandchildren, Case Smith Cohen of Swell, NJ, Jared Keller of Dover, PA, and Paige Keller of York, PA; his two adored great-grandchildren and his sister, Pam Albright of York, PA. David was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waelde, and his sister Carla Fitskee.
David's life was a journey marked by unwavering resolve, profound relationships, and a commitment to excellence. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
