David A. Schettig's Obituary
David A. Schettig, age 72, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at home, with his family by his side, after a long battle with Colon cancer.
Dave was born in Cresson, PA, son of the late Lester and Clarinda (Huntley) Schettig.
Dave retired with 30 years of service, as an Elevator Mechanic, with the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 10, in Washington, DC.
After retirement, Dave drove a school bus in MD and truly loved it.
His hobbies were, working in his professionally equipped garage and helping many, many people with his mechanical skills. Dave also loved working on his perfectly manicured lawn and watching car auction & car restoration shows on TV.
In addition to his parents Dave was preceded in death by his niece, Lisa (Hall) Gurnham. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly (Conway) Schettig of Rehoboth Beach, DE, their two children, daughter, Sandra (Scott) Segrist of Glenwood, MD and son, Michael (Julia) Schettig of Woodbine, MD; five grandchildren, Amanda, Steven, Ryan, Emma, and Madeline; a sister, Nancy (Leroy) Hall of Ridgefield, CT; two nieces, Kathy Hall of Portland, CT and Sharon Hall of Litchfield, AZ and one nephew, Steve Hall of Ridgefield, CT.
At Dave’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Services were private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, in Dave’s honor.
