David E. Rowe's Obituary
David E. Rowe, Jr., age 26, of Georgetown, DE, died Monday, January 19, 2009, near Harbeson, DE as a result of a tragic automobile accident. He was born June 18, 1982 at Camp Lejune, NC, son of David E. Rowe, Sr. and Teresa L. (Anderson) Rowe of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
David was a native Sussex Countian. He graduated frm Cape Henlopen High School in 2000 and joined the military. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, Alpha2/319th Airborne Field Artillary Regiment, Ft. Bragg, NC. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2004.
Coming out of active duty in 2004, David served in the reserves; he was a Platoon Sergeant with the 673rd Quartermaster Company located in Dover. Most recently, he worked at the Orient Corp. of America in Seaford, DE, as a dye maker.
David loved the beach, fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew. But, first and foremost he was a devoted father who leaves behind his 18 month old son, David E. Rowe III, who was his whole world.
In addition to his son, he is survived by his loving parents, David Sr. and Teresa Rowe of Rehoboth Beach; his devoted sister Heather L. Rowe of Falls Church, VA; his paternal grandmother Beatrice Megee and her husband Ernie of Georgetown; his maternal grandparents Norman and Dorothy Anderson of Dagsboro; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his many Army buddies and long time friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jessie E. Rowe.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2009, 12:00 Noon at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes with the Rev. Dr. Edward R. Wilkins officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening, 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Monday morning beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a Trust Fund for David E. Rowe III, c/o Delaware National Bank, 20281 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
