David E. Abercrombie's Obituary
David Eugene Abercrombie of Rehoboth Beach, DE died peacefully on January 5, 2019 at Beebe Hospital surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was 95 years old.
Dave was born December 1st, 1923 in Baltimore, MD to Reginald and Ruth Abercrombie and was the oldest of 4 siblings. He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a degree in chemical engineering and was a World War II US Navy veteran where he served on the USS Washington. He later worked at E.I. DuPont Company and helped to found Maryland Mechanical Contracting in Baltimore. His life was guided by his faith and in 2003 became an ordained Priest in the Anglican Church of North America.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Wanda; his three children, Susan Gardner, David B. Abercrombie, and Taylor Abercrombie; his sisters Elaine Fulmer and Mary Elizabeth Hammond; 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was laid to rest beside his family at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Oxford, MD on his beloved Eastern Shore where a private memorial was held. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to St Thomas the Disciple Church, PO Box 2697, Salisbury, MD 21802.
