Jay, fellow traveler; a kind soul on a lifelong quixotic quest.
Vaya con dios . . .
I met Jay at the University of Delaware in the early 1970's. We both lived in the same dorm and both of us had ties to Rehoboth Beach and Lewes. After graduation some of us got jobs (including Jay) at the newly opened Pappy's Restaurant on Rehoboth Avenue and First St. (That's a Pappy's striped shirt Jay is wearing under his jacket).
Our work related social circle included me, Jay, Diane (Savage) Thompson, and Richard Langlois. I'm sure there were others whose names I cannot recall forty years later. Although all of us left our jobs at Pappy's within a few months, we continued our friendship and added new friends during the 1970's and into the '80's.
Jay studied art history at the U of D and was always interested in things Egyptian. He was especially proud of his trips to Egypt to tour the pyramids.
I scanned some photos of Jay and his friends I took in the 1970's and have posted them here for Jay's friends and relatives.
I was just thinking the other day I should give jay a call,Jay and I have been friends for years I would house sit for him when he went to Egypt the first time living in the farm house. One time he came back to new York city and I had to wire him money to get the train to Wilmington, took a year to pay back 125.00 but that was Jay.I am sorry to hear he passed away peace to him.JR

Jay was a favorite eccentric personality and childhood friend. I loved his artwork, elite differtness, and humor. I genuinely will miss him.
