Daniel N. Crampton Ph. D's Obituary
Daniel N. "Dan" Crampton, 83,of Lewes, formerly of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on June 30, 2026, following complications from Parkinson's disease.
Dan was born on September 29, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Vincent and Kathleen (Carroll) Crampton.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and later a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
In 1986, Dan married Sharon Garland Crampton. Together, they built a life filled with shared interests, including travel, family, and lasting friendships.
Dan enjoyed a distinguished career in communications, serving as Director of Communications for COMSAT and later with Crampton & Berg. Throughout his professional life, he was respected for his leadership, dedication, and expertise.
Outside of his career, Dan embraced life with enthusiasm. He had a lifelong love of music, theater, and opera, and enjoyed biking and open-water swimming. He was an active member of Coastal Concerts, where he served on the Board of Directors and chaired the programming committee.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Crampton; his brothers-in-law, David Blair, Russ (Sue) Garland, and David (Kirsten) Garland; his sister-in-law, Nancy Garland; and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister.
A private service will be held at a later date.
