Daniel James Cauley's Obituary
Dan Cauley, age 60, of Long Neck, DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 5, 1962, in Sharon Hill, PA, the son of Daniel and Nancy (Carroll) Cauley.
A 1980 graduate of Sharon Hill High School, Dan’s path led him to employment in the manufacturing industry, where he held several jobs in the surrounding area of where he grew up. Factory work was hard, but Dan worked long hours to earn a living. In 1988, he married Mary Jo Moore. In 1991, just months before the birth of their son, Dan and Mary Jo left the busy Pennsylvania suburbs and make their home near the Rehoboth Bay in Long Neck, DE.
Dan loved the ocean and living close to the water and the beach was a dream come true for Dan. True to his Philly roots, he was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles Football and Philadelphia Phillies Baseball fan. He loved to talk about American muscle cars and see them when he could. He was a very fun-loving guy who enjoyed having a good time. Above all, the time spent with those he held most dear was what he most cherished. He was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Cauley. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Cauley; his son, Joseph Daniel Cauley; his sister, Mary Cauley, and his long-time partner of twelve years, Emma Thompson and her extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 7:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Dan’s memory to an organization that he strongly believed in and supported: the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or www.cancer.org.
