Cynthia Ann Graves-Murphy's Obituary
Cynthia Ann Graves Murphy, age 70 of Lewes, Delaware, passed away due to complications of cancer on the morning of Thursday, July 2, 2026 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland. She passed peacefully and was surrounded by family.
Cindy was born on January 16, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Robert H. Graves and Harriet Valerie Maynard Graves. She grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, graduating with the class of 1974 from James Monroe High School. Cindy graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a degree in psychology in 1978. She worked in hotel management in Chicago where she met her husband, Kevin. Cindy married Kevin in Newport, Rhode Island on July 13, 1985. Together they had three beautiful children whom Cindy very proudly raised in Huntington Station, Long Island. In her later years, Cindy and Kevin loved spending their winter months at their condo in Naples, Florida, eventually splitting their time in retirement between Lewes and Naples.
Cindy adored becoming a grandmother to her five cherished grandchildren. She was an avid reader, Bruce Springsteen fan and dog lover. Yoga, mahjong, pickleball, walks around Lewes and spending time with her dear friends were some of her favorite hobbies.
Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Cece), sister and friend to many. Her infectious laugh, loving nature and curious mind will always be missed.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kevin Murphy, her three children - Justin Murphy (Paige), Sam Murphy (Emily) and Sarah Murphy (Taylor) - five grandchildren, and three brothers - Steve Graves, Mike Graves (Kim) and Kendall Edwards (Kim).
Memorial services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, Delaware.
