Cynthia E Anno's Obituary
Cynthia E. Anno age 76 of Milton, DE passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024. She was born on August 23, 1947, in Rome, NY, to the late Charles Edkins and Adelaide Edkins (Case).
Cindy grew up in Rome, NY. She attended Rome Free Academy High School where she met Jim in senior year. After high school Cindy received a bachelor’s degree from Keuka College and a Master of Education from the University of Virginia. She began her teaching career in 1970 in Rochester, NY. She and Jim were married in 1971 and moved to Norfolk, VA while Jim completed his teaching degree at Old Dominion University. They taught in Calvert County MD and moved to Salisbury, MD in 1977. There she and Jim raised their two wonderful daughters, Carrie, and Jaime.
She loved teaching and was a bright spot in the day for colleagues and students alike. She was dedicated to enriching the lives of every student. She taught at North Salisbury Elementary school for 27 years. After retiring she began organizing monthly luncheons for her retired teacher friends.
Cindy loved the beach and enjoyed spending Christmas vacations with her family at the beaches near St. Petersburg, FL where her mother lived. After retirement she continued to enjoy winter vacations with Jim in south Florida. She loved traveling and vacationing from Vermont to Vancouver, Alaska to Hawaii, and the Grand Canyon to Florida. In 2016 she and Jim built a retirement home in Milton DE where she enjoyed her new neighbors.
Cynthia is survived by her loving husband, James Anno of Milton DE; her daughters; Carrie Bitner (Daniel) of Danville, PA. Jaime Anno of Queens, NY. Her brother; Neil Edkins (Phyllis) of Rochester, NY; Sister-in-laws Sandra Edkins of Bellefonte, PA.; Patricia Anno Ritchie (James) of Rome NY and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Cynthia is predeceased by her brother, Warren Edkins.
A Memorial Service will be held at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, MD on February 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 before the service.
