Constance Macintire Hopkins' Obituary
Constance Macintire Hopkins, age 81, of Milton, DE, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. She was born in Lewes, DE, on January 29, 1930, daughter of the late Edwin G. and Helena Maull (Coverdale) Macintire.
Mrs. Hopkins attended the Devereux School in Devon, PA for many years as she was hearing impaired. She moved to Lansdowne, PA where she lived for 33 years and worked as a crossing guard for over 10 years. In 1995 she retired with her husband Bob to their family farm in Milton. After moving back to Delaware she enjoyed volunteering at the New Life Thrift Shop in Lewes. She loved all the wonderful nature that Sussex County offered and was an avid bird watcher. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert N. Hopkins (July 2009) and her sister Helena (Coverdale) Macintire. She is survived by four sons: James A. Hopkins of Milton, Peter M. Hopkins of Placentia, CA, Mark Hopkins of Coolspring, DE, and Josiah N. Hopkins of Drexel Hill, PA; fifteen grandchildren; and her brother George Gould Macintire of Lewes, DE.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
